Arizona, You Are out of Line!

The Obama Administration has finally hit back at Arizona with a lawsuit. It couldn’t have been timed any closer, as the infamous law is set to come into effect at the end of this month. The move has, as expected, been severely criticized by the Republicans. Somewhat surprisingly, some law enforcement officials have also joined in with criticism. President Barack Obama has taken on the criticism and lashed out by saying that the Arizona law is misguided. He also wants people to be patient as he attempts to bring about large scale reforms to the immigration system.

The pro-policy group claims that the controversial law will do what the federal government has failed to do. That is, to prevent the mass influx of illegal immigrants into the state. The Department of Justice agree with them to an extent and that is where the problem lies. The DoJ claims that the Arizona law is in effect usurping federal authority. In that way, by doing what the federal government should be doing, the new law is deemed unconstitutional.

The Obama Administration’s main worry in this issue is not that the law is highly controversial, but that it could spread across all the states that suffer from an illegal immigrant issue. Arizona may be justified in one sense, as the crime rate has been steadily the increasing within the state. Mexican crime gangs are freely passing in and out of the state with impunity, leaving Arizonans increasingly fearing for their lives.
