Republican senator gives credit to Obama

President Barack Obama has received credit from a Republican Senator for reaching out to his fellow Reps in both the Senate and Congress. Sen. Richard Lugar praises Obama for proving wrong accusations that his administration does not listen enough to opposition legislators. Lugar further adds by warning his fellow Republicans against being a “party of no,” advising that voters themselves will start turning their anger on Reps if they fall short of coming up with real solutions apart from being on the opposing end of bills and presidential initiatives.

Lugar said on an interview by Candy Crowley of CNN that he now understands that Obama did in fact reach out to Republicans during their meetings since his coming into power. Lugar believes that his fellow Republicans appreciate what the president is doing and will now be more able to see things on same terms instead of turning each meeting into a lame duck session. The Senator also agrees with Crowley’s opinion that Republican leader Sen. McConnell is now trying to deal with rebellious senators on his own wagon. Lugar stresses that while some of the senators in the Republican Party would always say no to Obama, they should never be known as the “party of no”.

There are already hints of disagreement between McConnell and his fellow Republicans especially from Congress. Congressman Mike Pence recently told the media that he is at a disagreement with McConnell when he said that repealing health care reform is near impossible with Obama sitting in the White House. Pence adds that while he will not necessarily go against opinions of his fellows, he is concerned with the fact that some Republicans make decisions without thinking about the public.
