The White House releases photos of the
'First Dog' to
be named 'Bo'. Sasha and Malia recently met their new Portuguese
Water Dog puppy at the White House. The six-month-old puppy is expected to arrive at the White House on April
14th.

President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama attend an Easter
Worship Service at St. John's Episcopal Church
across the street from the White House. The Obama family is considering
St. Johns Episcopal as their family church as has
been the Presidential tradition for decades. The US Secret Service
screened all worshippers as they entered the church.
St. John's Reverend Luis Leon met with President Obama in an
Inauguration Day church ceremony on January 20, 2009. |

President Barack Obama authorized the mission to free the captain of a
US ship held by Somalian pirates in a sealed lifeboat
for five days off the coast of Somalia. The Navy Seal rescue team
successfully freed the Captain of the Maersk Alabama
Richard Phillips who boarded the USS Bainbridge after jumping from the
lifeboat to safety during the Navy mission that killed
three pirates and captured another. The crew of the US merchant ship Maersk
Alabama celebrated the Captain's release
and delivered the ship's cargo of emergency food relief in the port of Mombassa,
Kenya. President Obama talked to Captain
Phillips from the White House after he was freed and on board the USS
Bainbridge. |

President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama speak to a crowd of
about 3,000 from the Truman Balcony of the
White House on Easter Monday, April 13, 2009. The Obama family
celebrated Easter by participating in the traditional White
House Easter Egg Roll event on the South Lawn of the White House.
President Obama whistled the started of the the race and
read 'Where the Wild Things Are' to a group of children. The singer
Fergie sang the national anthem and entertained the crowd. |

confront piracy in the aftermath of the Somalian
piracy incident involving a US merchant ship carrying food aid to a port

Bo's Official Introduction to the Media at the White House
First Lady Michelle Obama leads Bo the new First Dog from the White
House to the South Lawn to introduce the Portuguese
Water Dog puppy to the media and the world. President Obama and daughters
Sasha and Malia joined in the highly anticipated
introduction. The Obama family took Bo for a run on the South Lawn after
the media greeting on April 14, 2009. Bo showed his
strength by almost pulling President Obama down when Bo decided to run
jerking the leash Obama was holding.

President Barack Obama meets with us taxpayers then holds a press
conference in the Roosevelt Room of the White House to
discuss tax policies including, rewriting the monstrous US tax code,
ending tax breaks to corporations who ship jobs overseas,
creating a simpler tax return, and tax relief for working families.
Obama's remarks are made on the final day for filing US taxes. |

President Barack Obama joins Transportation secretary Ray LaHood, and
Vice President Joe Biden to announce a proposal for a
US high speed rail system. The remarks were made in the Eisenhower
Executive Office Building on April 16, 2009. President
Obama wants to rival existing high speed rail systems in France,
Germany, Japan, and China. The Obama high speed rail system
proposal includes a $13 billion government injection. |

President Barack Obama arrives with Canadian Prime Minister Stephen
Harper on the second day of the 5th Summit of the
Americas in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago on April 18, 2009. The
North American leaders met on Obama's first foreign
trip in Ottawa, Canada on February 19, 2009 and again in Europe in early
April at the G20 Summit in London and the NATO
conference in Strasbourg, France. President Obama met with PM Harper on
the evening of Friday, April 17th and again on
the morning of Saturday, April 18th prior to attending the second day of
the American summit. When asked by reporters
what Obama discussed with PM Harper, President Obama said he gets a lot
of "good tips" from Canada. |

2009 in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago. President
Obama sits next to Chilean President Bachelet. President Obama is given
a book prior to the start of the meeting by Venezuelan
President Hugo Chavez. The book written in Spanish is titled The Open
Veins of Latin America written by Uruguayan Eduardo
Galeano. After President Obama received the book from President Chavez
Amazon reported that sales skyrocketed taking the
book from 60,000 to a top ten position on the Amazon best-seller book
list. The book recalls the historic reasons for the the rocky
relations between United States and Latin American countries. Later the
session leaders met at a working lunch. President Obama
sat next to Colombian President Alvaro Uribe, who later showed the press
a hand written given to him by President Obama. |
