Girls Council aimed at high level reform on women's issues.
The order was signed in the Eisenhower Executive Offices on the White
House campus. First Lady Michelle Obama attended the
earmark reform signing as did WNBA basketball star Lisa Leslie. |

President Barack Obama speaks to small business owners, community
lenders, and members of Congress in the East Room of
the White House on March 16, 2009. Earlier President Obama met with
Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner and business leaders in
the Roosevelt Room of the White House. President Obama scorned AIG for
plans to give AIG executives $165 million in bonuses
shortly after receiving over $173 billion in taxpayer bailout money.
Obama called the AIG bonuses an "outrage" and vowed to
take all necessary legal steps to prevent payout of the executive
bonuses. |

President Barack Obama is given a bowl of shamrocks by Irish Prime
Minister Brian Cowen at the annual Shamrock Ceremony
in the Roosevelt Room of the White House on St. Patrick's Day, March 17,
2009. President Obama, Secretary of State Hillary
Clinton, US National Security Adviser James Jones, Irish PM Cowen and
Northern Ireland's leaders later met with the media in
the Oval Office of the White House. President Obama appointed Dan
Rooney, the owner of the NFL's Pittsburgh Steelers, as
Ambassador to Ireland and praised Irish leaders for sustaining the peace
in Ireland despite recent Irish turmoil. |
