Just six months ago, Congressional Democrats were skeptical about including anything that Obama stood for in their campaigns. For the most part, they were tired of supporting his stimulus package and healthcare bill that has come under fire for a while now but with the shift in focus that deals directly with middle class issues, some of them are publicly backing his proposals.
In agreeing with the President’s new approach that resonates with the concerns of voters in his state of New York, Representative Tim H. Bishop adds, “His focus on building jobs and restoring some stability in the middle class is what I have been focusing on all along. In 2010 the conversation was almost exclusively about health care, and there was so much emotion and so much fury. I think the climate is much calmer now.”
More and more Democrats that didn’t find common ground with the President are gradually coming around to his support, with some supporting his stance publicly while others are being cautious about the President’s new-found image as a “hero” amongst the middle class.
Most of them think that Obama is doing the right thing by focusing on the economy, jobs and taxes while others are proud that he was able to deal with both Qaddafi and Bin Laden in the recent past.
It’s too early to say whether or not Congressional Democrats will campaign with Obama in the coming days but what seems obvious is that they will align their campaign along with him.
