Since April 2012, President Obama’s ratings have not been very different from Bush’s eight years ago.
Prior to that, the latter’s ratings has been ahead from September 11, 2001 to the spring of 2004 and in their first few years in office.
But that’s all changing now since Obama is actually moving ahead. While a recent Gallup poll indicated Obama being in the low 40s, the HuffPollster trend line seems to be a more accurate one.
While the earlier Gallup rating has moved up to 44, Obama’s HuffPollster trend line registers a 42.5 percent instead or roughly about the same 44 percent if you use the ‘less smoothing’ option.
In comparison, Bush was at 40 percent in February 2006 but continued to fall until he reached an all-time low of 25 percent. However, this is not the case with Obama as he is either holding steady or moving up at this point.
Of course, there’s no doubt that things can change rapidly which indicates that President Obama can follow suit much like Bush did or even in a fashion that Reagan had to deal with in November 1986.
So, there’s no doubt that Obama can either sink lower than President Bush or move up past the 50 percent mark in the coming months. And quickly too as evidenced in the past…
Finally, even though both these Presidents have entered their second terms as the least popular Presidents in comparison with six President during the polling era, both of them have done better than President Nixon.
Leaving Obama in fourth place. And with nothing to brag about either.
