With Democrats displeased with Obama and Hillary Clinton coming under fire from Republicans, according to a poll, two of the Democratic Party’s leading members are losing ground when it comes to their approval ratings.
In describing these turn of events, a poll memo reveals, “Since his re-election, the president [has] waded into contentious policy areas such as gun control and immigration, while dealing with the Internal Revenue Service and National Security Administration controversies. Clinton, for her part, has stepped away from her popular role as secretary of state and may be seen in an increasingly partisan light given wide discussion of her possible candidacy for the Democratic presidential nomination in 2016.”
The poll’s results indicate that Obama has lost support amongst liberal voters by 12 percent and among non-whites by 9 percent. Clinton, on the other hand, has seen a 10 percent drop among Republicans and 10 percent among senior citizens.
Even then, Clinton continues to be one of the most popular politicians in the country with almost 60 percent of Americans viewing her favorably as opposed to 33 percent that don’t. Obama’s overall ratings have dropped to 53 percent from 60 percent in the first month of his second term as President.
But it’s not just the Democrats that Americans seem to be displeased with as Marco Rubia, a Republican Senator from Florida, hasn’t gained much ground either, even if his efforts to pass immigration reform has made the headlines in recent times.
The poll in question surveyed 1010 adults between June 19-23, and has a margin of error of about plus or minus 3.5 points.
