Obama Challenges Media To Do ‘Homework’ On GOP Jobs Plan

Most Democrats have accused President Obama of being conciliatory in the past. That time is over because during his current tour to promote the American Jobs Act, he challenged the media to take a stand on whether the GOP really has a ‘decent’ jobs plan or not.

In addressing the news media, he said, “Here’s a good question. Here’s a little homework assignment for folks. Go ask the Republicans what their jobs plan is, if they’re opposed to the American Jobs Act. And have it scored… have it assessed by the same independent economists that assessed our jobs plan.”
According to Obama, Republicans have rejected his plan without any reason. A plan that he says, is based on ideas not only from partisans but also from independent economists. As for the assessment by independent economists of the American Jobs Act, it will not only drop the unemployment rate by 2 percent but also put about 1.9 million people back to work.

It was evident, from the press conference, that Obama was frustrated with Congress not willing to push the plan forward, even though it has garnered public support. He blamed it on the ‘cynicism’ that exists in Congress since his government has not being able to solve the economic crisis for the last two years.

While it’s true that the President has been slow in coming up with the proposed American Jobs Act, what should be asked [by the press] is if Republicans are actually capable of delivering the goods themselves, in terms of a concrete jobs plan for the next two years.
