Obama has promised that he will not allow Iran from getting a nuclear weapon but some experts believe that the progress that they have made will make it too late for anyone to stop them.
In speaking with TV Channel 2, Obama made it clear as to how Iran would be dealt with, in saying, “Right now, we think it will take a little bit over a year for Iran to possess a nuclear weapon, but obviously we don’t want to cut it too close. What we’re going to be doing is to continue to engage internationally with Iran, understanding we’ve had the toughest sanctions ever. If we can resolve this diplomatically, that’s a more lasting solution, but if not I continue to keep all options on the table.”
Alongwith reassuring the Israeli public about this nuclear threat, Obama, with this speech, showed that the gap between American and Israeli leaders was closing, considering the threat that the Iranian nuclear program poses.
What this announcement has also made clear is whether or not Iran has the weapons grade material to create nuclear (which they do!) but what remains uncertain is whether they have the political will to do so.
With the agreement of both American and Israeli politicians on this matter, it could be crucial to the decision made by the United States, France, Russia, China, Germany and the United Kingdom as Iran proposes a deal to use nuclear power for medical and research purposes.
In the round of latest talks, the six nations decided to lift economic sanctions partially by allowing it to conduct trade on gold and other precious metals if it stopped the process of enriching the medium-enriched uranium takes steps to safeguard that stockpile.
