Obama Says Any Presidential Nominee Must Work For All Americans, Criticizes Romney’s Fundraiser Comments

In criticizing the remarks made by Romney in a fundraiser, Obama said that a Presidential nominee has to work for everyone and not just a few, as the former revealed that the President will win votes of the 47% who are ‘dependent on government’.

In speaking with David Letterman on The Tonight Show, Obama said, “One thing I’ve learnt as President is you represent the entire country. There are not a lot of people out there who think they are “victims” or simply entitled to benefits.”

Romney also said, in his controversial speech, that his role if elected President will not be to worry about the 47% as it won’t be possible to convince them of being able to take personal responsibility and care for their own lives.

He also defended his remarks, as made in the secretly-filmed video, in an interview with Fox News, by saying that he will not get the votes of those who are not able to pay their taxes – and who also believe that the government’s job is to redistribute.

Despite these developments, it has become apparent that the election is likely to be a close contest, thanks to the results of a NBC News/ Wall Street Journal poll which revealed that the President is ahead of Romney by 5% by obtaining an approval rating of 50% for the first time since the month of March.

On the other hand, the President reiterated, on Letterman, that he would work for those who did not vote for him either.
