WASHINGTON – Today, President Barack Obama announced his intent to nominate the following individual to a key administration post:

Thomas M. Beck, Nominee for Board Member, National Mediation Board
Thomas M. Beck has served as a Member of the Federal Labor Relations Authority (FLRA) since October 16, 2008.  In that role, he has impartially adjudicated, and has participated in published decisions resolving, more than 400 labor disputes.  He is the immediate past Chairman of the FLRA.  Prior to joining the FLRA, he was a partner with the global law firm Jones Day. During his 16 years in the private practice of law, he appeared in numerous federal and state courts throughout the United States, argued in several federal appellate courts, represented clients before various regulatory agencies, and handled dozens of labor arbitrations.  He has also taught courses on Constitutional separation of powers and on the federal legislative process at the George Mason University School of Law.  He received both his undergraduate and law degrees from the University of Virginia.
