President Obama’s Job Performance Ratings Drop Amidst Scandals, Reveals University Survey

Considering a number of scandals that have taken place and which the Obama administration is now faced to deal with publicly, the President’s job performance ratings, not surprisingly, has dropped from 48 to 45 percent this month.

The survey which was conducted by Quinnipiac University between May 22-28 among 1419 registered voters, 49 percent disapprove of his job performance in contrast to a poll conducted on May 1 of which 48 percent were in approval.

Experts attribute this to a series of scandals that have been revealed over the past few months namely the IRS scandal which targeted certain groups applying for tax-exempt status, the Justice Department having subpoenaed the phone records of journalists who were investigating stories on national security and the poor way in which the administration handled the terrorist attacks in Benghazi.

The drop was significant among independent voters where a month ago, 42 percent of voters approved while 48 percent disapproved. This month, however, 37 percent of independent voters approved while 57 percent of them disapproved of his job performance.

These scandals have raised questions as to whether the President is honest and trustworthy where 49 percent of them believe so while 47 percent disagree. In comparison to a poll taken in September 2011, and where the same question was asked, 58 percent believed he was while only 37 did not think so.

Apart from this, 76 percent of voters want a special prosecutor to investigate the IRS while 37 percent believ nn b ,e that the Justice Department’s conduct of seizing journalist’s records raises ‘legitimate concerns’. 43 percent of these voters consider the criticism of Benghazi to be ‘just politics’.
