Public Confidence In Obama’s Job Performance Shows Decline, 47% Believe That Spending Cuts Will Affect The Economy Adversely

Public confidence in Obama’s job performance continues to decline as a recent NBC News/ Wall Street Journal poll showed that 48% disapprove while 47% approve, thanks to his inability to deliver on jobs and the economy.

However, in the President’s defense, a senior White House official said, “The public has a sophisticated view of things and understands that the president is always working on more than one issue at time. We see an opportunity now to get guns and immigration reform done. But we think it’s important that the public understands that he is also always working on jobs and strengthening the economy.”

With that said, this is the third consecutive survey where people have given the President a negative review over a positive one, and according to a Democrat pollster, the only way Obama will boost his rating is by “delivering on the budget and the economy”.

Even if the unemployment rate currently stands at 7.6%, the number of jobs that were added in March were 88000 as opposed to 268000 jobs in February, and which has left a few Democrats nervous as the midterm election season draws near.

In fact, they are also concerned whether the public will link the slow economy to the sequester which began in March, and which will mean that Obama will have to shoulder the blame if something does go wrong. The Republicans, on the other hand, have kept their focus (and the pressure) on economic issues.

However, with Obama stirring up economic anxiety by warning people about these across-the-board cuts, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that at least 47% of these respondents said that these spending cuts would affect the economy adversely.
