On Monday, September 30, 2013, the President signed into law:
H.R. 1412, the “Department of Veterans Affairs Expiring Authorities Act of 2013,” which extends certain expiring authorities affecting veterans and their families, increases the amount authorized for specific homeless veterans programs, and verifies the incomes of pension recipients with information obtained through the National Directory of New Hires;
H.R. 3092, the “E. Clay Shaw, Jr. Missing Children’s Assistance Reauthorization Act of 2013,” which expands the purposes for which Justice Department grants related to missing children, including grants to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, may be used; and establishes requirements for audits and other oversight of grant recipients; and
H.R. 3210, the “Pay Our Military Act,” which provides continuing appropriations for pay and allowances during any period for which interim or full-year appropriations for FY 2014 are not in effect as follows: for members of the Armed Forces, including Reserve Component personnel who perform active service during such period, and for civilian personnel and contractors of the Departments of Defense and Homeland Security (in the case of the Coast Guard) whom the respective Secretaries determine are providing support to members of the Armed Forces.
