President Obama criticized for handling immigration badly

President Obama’s response to the crisis at the border has been criticized by not just Republicans but also fellow Democrats.

While the former are pointing out that Obama’s immigration policies have changed, the latter are blaming the White House for messing up the response to this situation at the Mexican border.

In expressing his disappointment, a Democrat Senator from Iowa, who is also the chairman of the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee, said, “They sure didn’t check with me. I don’t know who they checked with, but I just think it was kind of a quick reaction without really thinking about the humanitarian aspects of this.”

So, it shouldn’t be surprising that Democrats are not only giving floor speech but having closer door discussions about how the administration did not comprehend the root cause of the problem, which has led to Congress not agreeing to the funding required to deal with the crisis.

The trouble that has been caused is due to a law signed by George W. Bush to prevent the trafficking of children. The result of this bill has caused an unintended effect: the children staying in the United States for years before they can get a hearing.

Of course, this reality wouldn’t have occurred if not for the backlogs in the immigration court system where children must get their day in court.

With Republicans wanting a changing to the 2008 law, Democrats are against the revision of this law. This stalemate has led to the indecision about the aid package that Congress should approve.

The Obama administration, on the other hand, are in agreement with the changes proposed while Democrats and immigration advocates are furious at his involvement with this plan. His fellow Democrats also believe that he has further complicated the issue.
