Zimbabwean dictator Robert Mugabe recently made a sarcastic remark directed at President Obama. This was related to the Supreme Court’s decision of legalizing gay marriage in the United States.
In clearly demonstrating an anti-homosexual stance in a radio interview with ZBC, Mugabe said, “I’ve just concluded since President Obama endorses the same-sex marriage, advocates homosexual people and enjoys an attractive countenance thus if it becomes necessary , I shall travel to Washington DC, get down on my knee, and ask his hand. I can’t understand how this people dare to defy Christ’s explicit orders as our Lord prohibited mankind from sodomy.”
He also claimed that Washington was now controlled by “Satan worshipers who insult the great American nation”.
Of course, this comes as no surprise since he also accused Obama of forcing homosexuality on the African continent. The former had stated that Zimbabwe will not receive aid if they did ‘embrace’ homosexuality.
Homosexuality is considered illegal in Zimbabwe. The dictator has gone as far as to tell gay people to go to hell. He has also said that those with this sexual orientation are even lower than “pigs, goats and birds”.
Alternatively, Mozambique got rid of a law that criminalizes homosexuality where one can be punished for up to 3 years of hard labor. Gay rights activists consider this to be a symbolic victory for gay rights in Africa.
The Supreme Court’s decision to legalize gay marriage took place just before there were LGBT marches held around the world. However, in Turkey, police broke up a gay rights march with tear gas, water cannon and rubber pellets.
