WASHINGTON, DC – Today, President Obama nominated Judge Mark A. Young to serve on the United States District Court for the Central District of California. .

Judge Mark A. Young: Nominee to the United States District Court for the Central District of California
Judge Mark A. Young has served as a Judge on the Los Angeles Superior Court since 2008, where he presides over criminal matters. Prior to his appointment to the bench, he was an Assistant United States Attorney in the Central District of California from 1998 to 2008. While at the United States Attorney’s Office, Judge Young served as Executive Assistant United States Attorney from 2007 to 2008 and as Deputy Chief of the Organized Crime Drug Task Force from 2005 to 2007. He started his legal career as an associate at the law firm of White & Case LLP from 1995 to 1998. Judge Young received his J.D. in 1995 from the University of Southern California Gould School of Law and his B.A. in 1991 from the University of California, Los Angeles.
