New book “Double Down” says Obama considered dropping Biden, Carney says not true

A new book titled ‘Double Down’, based on the 2012 Presidential campaign, says that Obama considered dropping Biden from the race for Hillary Clinton, and which according to the White House, isn’t true.

Jay Carney, White House spokesperson, never denied the allegation of his aides suggesting such a move but responded in saying,  “Campaigns and pollsters, as part of campaigns, test a lot of things. What I can tell you without a doubt is that the president never considered that, and had anyone brought that idea to him, he would have laughed it out of the room.”

In fact, Obama, contrary to popular opinion, felt that Biden was an asset to both Presidential campaigns but also the White House as well. When asked whether Obama was aware of such an idea, allegedly floated by his top aides, Carney responded by saying that he wasn’t aware of whether the President was aware of this or not.

The contents of this book, which throws up controversial information, can prove to be embarrassing for Joe Biden as he intends to run for President against Clinton in 2016.

Since Biden has been known to generate controversy with his words, Obama has still relied on him to carry out a number of important initiatives with one being the last-minute deal that he negotiated with the Republicans last year.

When visiting Biden’s hometown, Scranton, last year, the President was heard saying that picking Biden was the best decision he ever made because “he’s got heart and he cares about people and he’s willing to fight for what he believes in”.
