It won’t be long before the President leaves office in 2016 and which is why the Justice Department is now preparing a new set of regulations that will clearly go after the Second Amendment Rights of American citizens.
Simply put, Obama is making one last effort to add key restrictions to gun ownership pertaining to domestic abusers as he makes way for the next President.
Everytown, a group that agrees with keeping guns out of domestic abusers’ hands, concurs, in saying, “American women are 11 times more likely to be shot and killed than women in other developed countries. The high rate of domestic violence deaths in America is directly related to our weak gun laws. But we know that smart gun laws can—and do—stop domestic abuse from turning into murder.”
Of course, those not in favor of stricter gun control laws believe that this will only stop a number of prospective gun owners from getting one even though they aren’t a danger to society at all.
However, it’s clear that the effects of the shootings in NewTown has made a lasting impression on the President. Yet he is clear about respecting the Second Amendment while preventing lawbreakers from obtaining guns and which could prevent incidents on a massive scale.
And even though, a number of efforts to keep guns out of peoples’ hands have failed in the past, this new regulation will make it illegal for people who have been convicted with a misdemeanor domestic violence to possess firearms.
