According to a CNN/ ORC International Poll which queried 1018 adults, seven out of 10 voters are unhappy with the direction in which the country is headed. Also, 53 percent of voters disapprove of the President’s job performance so far.
These results can spell trouble for Democrats with the midterm November elections on the cards where they have to continue to maintain a majority in the Senate and are outnumbered by the GOP 234 to 201 in the House.
For that matter, the Republican party needs only six seats to win a Senate majority and with the current polls indicating just that, it could be a matter of time when they gain complete control of Congress.
The poll also revealed that about 68 percent of Americans were either very or somewhat angry over the leadership running the country while 31 percent weren’t angry at all. It was only 26 percent of Democrats who said that they were very or extremely enthusiastic about voting this year.
As for the regions where Obama’s job performance was considered acceptable were in urban areas (60 percent) and in the North East (51 percent). That said, the states where Senate majority do not fall in categories but instead in the South, where 3 Democrat candidates are running for re-election, apart from the Midwest and West.
The Democrats seats in Montana, West Virginia and South Dakota are to be won by Republicans and which means they need only three more seats to win Senate majority. Of course, only 13 percent of Americans approve of Congress’ performance while 85 percent completely disapprove.
